Service List Review Request

I'm preparing to send my X5 in for service. Below is the list and I would really appreciate any comments. Are the items clearly written? Do they make sense? Anything to add? Are they covered by CPO? Thanks!

2005 X5 4.4, 33K mi (CPO)

1. Exhaust Flutter
Loud fluttering noise while accelerating (ref.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdYfio0xVkU). To hear it clearly, test drive with rear hatch open. Possible problem with the muffler.

2. High Pitch Whistle
There is a high pitch whistling noise coming from the engine compartment while cruising along. The noise seems to be transmitting through the vent because it's not audible when the fan is off. Possible cause: a leak in the intake -or- evaporator drain tubes contacting driveshaft and transmit noise (ref.
http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/15435-high-pitched-whistle-when-you-accelerate-i-found-where-mine-coming.html?highlight=whistle and http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/36372-picked-up-used-x5-whistles.html).

3. Rough Idle
At idle, the vehicle vibrates quite strongly. Sometimes steady, sometimes pulsating. It's almost like sitting in a massage chair. It idles at around 500 RPM. Is that too low?

4. Cupholder Prongs
A couple of cupholder plastic prongs/springs in the center console are missing.

5. Squeaky Driver Seat
Squeaky noise coming from under the driver seat when entering and exiting the vehicle. The squeak is also audible when the vehicle is turning. I was going to lube it but after looking under the seat, I opted not to because there are so many exposed components (motors, etc.)

6. Steering Wheel Plastic Chipping
Black paint is coming off exposing white plastic.

7. Rear Hatch Struts
The rear hatch seems to shut too hard. I thought it supposed to close softly. Isn't that what the motorized latch is for?

8. Bluetooth Keycode
Bluetooth keycode was not provided by the dealer. Please check and provide keycode.

9. Alarm Chirp
Please disable the audible chirp when alarm is armed. Light indicator is sufficient.

10. Software Updates
Please check to see if my vehicle needs software updates.

list looks good.

If you are having them do the alarm chirp you may want to go to the home page and see what other options u might like customerized. I am sure they will charge you the same (1/2 to 3/4 hr shop rate) to do it anyway....

I listened to your youtube video with your exhaust noise; it certainly seems like you have a hole or leak somewhere in the exhaust. I'm guessing that is what's causing #3 also - your rough idle.

sprocket1200, I looked at the home page but couldn't find where I can see all the options. I'm sure I've overlooked it. Could you send me the title of the link? Thanks!

Great list. If I may let me add a couple of comments:
1. Hopefully they'll fix it without too much trouble
2. Good luck on this one. When they 'test drive' the car (check the mileage when you get it back) it means the car was driven 2 miles.
3. Same as above. I've reported the same problem countless times.
4. They'll replace the pieces with the new design ones. If your cupholder is in shabby condition, try to get them to replace the whole console. It will look brand spanking new.
5. They grease something and be done with it. You'll get the noise again a week later.
6. Easy fix for them. Newest one is apparently more robust.
7. It does have a motorized close mechanism that is somewhat soft, make sure that is working.
8. You can usually find this on the sticker of the module itself (in the trunk)
9. They'll charge you for this. Don't get screwed on a ridiculous cost.
10. Good luck. They'll look at you and say with a straight face that there are no such things (got that answer once in regard to the nav system updates). My guess is that this will never get done in snowballs chance in hell.
11. Don't forget a recall check. They should do this automatically, but sometimes they don't.

Good luck.
