check your hoses and water pump. Get a pressure test to know where the leak is coming.

If you have a V8, then you may need to replace the valley pan gasket. This is a major fix - I recently had mine replaced at 104k miles. - 4point4eye.

I'm also having a leak. I have a 01 4.4 and there is almost a stream coming from a tube behind the motor. I thought it was from the A/C because it was clear when I caught some of it in a bowl. But I'm still having to fill up the tank every 5 days or so.
Will not bleeding the system cause the system to lose fluid somehow?

Depending on the amount of coolant your losing in a day, wk, or month it could be some of the area(s) that are talked about above.

I have talked to bimmer techs and they state that all bimmers will lose a little coolant (topping it off) and not un-common. Also in the winter it will drop a little too.

I check my fluids every couple of weeks (i am a long time Land Rover owner...lol) and in a month or so time (so far not much this winter, last time in Oct/Nov and depending on how much miles i have gone) i have to add a little (maybe 1/4 of a cup or less) were the full mark is a little below the edge of the filler opening.

good luck!

Anybody want to comment on the bold? I notice that both my current x5 and my old 3 series would leak a small amount of coolant over time.
