While pouring slowly will prevent you from hydrolocking, a 10 times longer lasting spray of it into the engine's complete induction system will surely provide better results. Example: when you bathe, do you hit yourself with the waterhose for a minute... or spend 10 minutes under a shower head.

Not saying anything bad about how people have been doing it in their driveways, as it is likely the best that can be done with the resources at hand. But the "professional" way with the proper setup does provide better results with less chance of an "oops" moment, as I have seen them before where someone dipped the big vacuum hose directly into the bottle and ended up with a bent rod! (but hey, that was one clean cylinder! )

How is that done? Is this similar to spraying an aerosol into the front of the intake with the air filter removed? I had always thought these types of cleaners were bad for the MAF, and therefore had to be introduced via a vacuum line. What shops can do the kind of procedure you are referring to?

I've always added seafoam to the gas tank, I've never sprayed it into the plenum while running the car.

When I want the "real" fuel injection cleaning service, I always go to a shop locally that uses the BG fuel injection cleaning. It costs about $100, give or take a few bucks - and it works! I've had it done on both my 4Runner and the Yukon several times and it makes a huge difference. Well worth the money.

Just an idea here weasel, but what about pouring the suggested 1/3 of a bottle of seafoam into a spray bottle, putting the nozzle directly in front of the vacuum hose while the car is running and spraying moderately until empty? Wouldn't that give a similar concept only not quite as professional and perhaps better than the slowly feeding the tube into the liquid itself?

Better than pouring it for sure... and loads safer. Not as good as a constant metered atomized spray, but better for the driveway job.
