My "New" X5

Well after a long search, I finally bought her 2 days ago. '05 4.8is TS/Blk, CPO, orig. warranty expires in 1000 mi. or 18 days. I believe it has everything but r.b.s, hitch, rear side airbags, and comfort seats. A few Q's, but I'll save them for another thread. I know I'm no Ansel Adams.

CONGRATULATIONS and WELCOME. Lot's of potential there. I would however recommend before the orig warranty expires to have it thouroughly checked out and do maintenance check the the dealer and consider purchasing at least extended warranty if not maintenance. Enjoy your gonna have a BLAST!!!!

Since you brought it up, I'll ask. I've seen a few posts about buying the BMW extended warranty(~$4k). Definitely interested in this; I have a great indy who serviced my 5 & 3, but can't beat a factory warr. Can you confirm that is something I can do, even without being orig. owner? Thanks and sorry for hijacking my thread.

Extended warranty does not have to be from BMW. It could well be 3rd party. To caviat on that, not all 3rd party warranty you can purchase is great. It is imperative to go through the details on what is covered SPECIFICALLY and in writing. I purchased my non-BMW extended warranty while the original warranty was still in effect. I even contemplated on not doing so since my x runs perfect. My orig warranty is now over. My left CV boot had a tear and intake boot, would have cost me $1100. if not for the ext warranty which i purchased for like $1350. So it paid for itself. Just trying to caution you on what may be in the future. IMO warranty is a must

Nice new ride. BMW ext warranty is really nice. I bought a CPO X5 and 20K later had the entire engine replaced under warranty when the header overheated and melted. That would have hurt if it wasnt covered.
