power head rest removal

Please, if anyone can help chime in. Yes I have searched and there are two of this same inquiry without any replies. (or did I miss something or do something wrong?) I have a new to me 03 4.6is with power front head rests and want to install sheepskin seat covers. Since these are electric I do not want to pry them out and risk pulling any wiring or something else out. The owners manual does not address it. Anyone????

I had to remove my power headrests to install the Invision DVD System. To remove them just yank up on them. The posts of the headrest go into a plastic actuator that just moves up and down.

Don't know what type of seats you have, but on the comfort seats you can remove the plastic backings and see how it is all put together.

Jeff, thanks for the quick reply. I will try that. I have already raised the headrest all the way up and applied a little force but was afraid of screwing something up. Going out of town for a long weekend so it will have to wait till next week. I really appreciate the advice.

No problem. But that's exactly what you need to do. Raise the headrests all the way up. Then give a couple of good *thwacks* to the underside of the headrest. Depending on how hard you hit it, it may take a couple of good hits.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but just want to be sure.
You have comfort seats, with power headrest and this is how you removed them.
Is the reinstallation the same. Just click it back in?
