Look at the e38 and e39 forums on Bimmer forums about Zionsville. It’s not pretty. There are issues with quality and consistency.

I searched with no luck.
I’m trying to find where the oil temperature
probe is located.
I found a oil probe in the oil filter canister area.
Not sure if that’s the correct location.
The dash has the temp dial on my 4.6

The "sensor" near the oil filter is the oil pressure switch (open/closed) only - pretty sure the oil temp. is measured by a sensor in the oil pan (oil level sensor?).

I couldn't find it either, no can it be displayed on the hidden cluster menu, as far as I can tell. It must be somewhere however, since my 4.8 cluster (back-fit into my 4.4i/4.6 motor car) has the oil temp gage. I thought that the sensor in the pan was just for oil level.

New to forum with 4.6is

Hi all, I am new to this forum. My name is Arjan and I am from the Netherlands. I have used this forum before to search for some issues. We have had a 2000 E53 4.4i and now it is upgraded to a 2003 E53 4.6is with LPG conversion.

There have been some issues and there are still some issues to be solved. I hope to share and gain knowledge here.

Issues solved:
- Rear diff leak incorrectly placed
- New set of tyres
- valve cover gasket was incorrectly placed and leaking
- Airco pully got stuck, replaced
- Airco line torn due pump that was loose

Issues to solve
- Radio does not work yet, due to Xtronic crap
- Rear door lock does not open
- Oil change
- Heater stays on, now only cold air due to the wheel on three blue dots

Hi guys! Long-time lurker, used to daily a 3.0i with 375.000km. Meant to drive that just for the winter, but fell in love with the E53 model. Recently got this 4.6is which is in great shape. Basically everything was done in the last 40.000km (currently 240k); new engine, rebuilt transmission, new alternator, M3 steering wheel, complete new suspension, oil pans, Eibach springs (-3cm), powdercoated wheels, etc.

Great addition next to my E30 325!

Fine looking couple! Curious to know, how did you find the hop into the 4.6is after 3.0i?
