I emailed him yesterday. He posted that 10 months ago, so keeping my fingers crossed!

Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself and my imola over red/black alcantara 2002 4.6is with an ESS Supercharger. I bought this x5 from the original owner at 91k miles, needing tons of work, but had a super cool history. I'll be making a dedicated thread at some point, but this is a start!

Hi All,
I FINALLY found and procured my 4.6is after looking for the right one for over a year. My beast is an 02 Estoril with black interior and only 66K miles. She has a Dinan high flow throttle body, stage 3 software and a non-Dinan cold air intake (which I'd like to upgrade to Dinan). The service records show very consistent maintenance up until 1 year ago.

The pre-purchase inspection suggested replacing the valve cover gaskets and CV boot. Other than that she seems pretty clean. The service advisor at the inspecting dealer wanted it for himself. I am taking care of those, but wanted to tap this forum to see what other maintenance items I should be looking for or checking right away. She is not a daily, but I'd like to take care of things before they become a bigger issue.

Thanks All, I appreciate the expertise.

Nice find. Congratulations! Since it was inspected, it may not need anything other than normal maintenance for another 20-30,000 miles. Dinan doesn't offer the cold air box or the MAF anymore. If you can find both than upgrade tune to stage 4. Also suggest the Dinan transmission software. Both are still available. How fast do you want it to go?

If you plan on keeping it get the timing chain guides done. Age is just as hard on them as mileage.

I'd consider a slow drip refresh of coolant hoses, tanks and misc bits...whatever the previous owner(s) didn't do in the past 10 years or so. The heat the M62 motors put out is hard on the plastic bits, expansion tank, etc. especially. If you do it all at once you may want to consider a new radiator, if yours is the original. The end caps are plastic and can get brittle and fail spectacularly.

Also, take a good look at your vacuum lines, especially if they have been exposed to slow fluid leaks.
