I have a question for the 4.8 owners.
A couple of years ago I went to view an 05 4.8is here in the UK.
Very nice apart from inoperative suspension and a rattly engine.
Anyway, my question is about the transmission hump in the rear footwell. On this car it was about 4- 5" high. My X5 has the same hump but its only about 1" like all the others I've seen.
Anyone else 'got the hump'..

Lots going on here. Please share some details. That looks like a basic 4.4 M62 with some random cover and M markings on it. But, happy to be corrected.

Exactly-was hoping this wanna be would have filled us in. I don't think that thing is even a 4.6. Beauty in eye of the beholder....

Isn't the gauge cluster from a 4.8is?

Tidy car but not my personal taste.

I wont even be nice about that X5, its an absolute disgrace. People like that are why so many of these cars end up in scrap yards.

If this is the before car then yea, what a way to ruin a classic! Imola red as well!

Don't worry, it's not the same X5. This one is a 4.6is that has been... we'll call it individualized to the owner's taste. A very specific taste. I've tried digging up good pictures of it all over the web as Laguna Seca Blue is my favorite BMW color. Owner seems to take pictures with a cell phone from 2002.

BTW, I think it could look amazingly good if the black accents had been kept. And I know that probably sounds a little hypocritical from someone who loves the aero kit as much as I do. But LSB is such a good color.

This is probably the best picture I could find of it:

Definitely a Real 4.6 that I've owned since new
What markings look added or fake ??
You definitely stand corrected about it not being a FACTORY 4.6is
