I still have left over a couple of what looks like fuses / relays that came with the headlights, but I'm not sure where to wire them in - I'm hoping / guessing that these will be what's needed to cancel the error message. Any ideas? |

I'm trying to do this now, but I don't have a white wire with brown stripe. The 4th wire down was green with brown and that didn't work.
Any ideas? Last edited by tkasser; 12-29-2010 at 12:38 PM. |

Any tips to getting rid of this gap? I can't seem to get it to sit any lower.

All,
I updated post #2 in this thread with better pics of the LCM. Quote:
1) Please disconnect your tap to the green/brown wire that is in the same physical position as my brown/white wire. (fourth wire down) 2) Your second wire down is brown/white. Please verify with a DMM on that position, +12V with running lights on. 3) If test in step #2 proves good, try taping the relay trigger wire there instead. If test is not good, I am unable to direct you further, as I do not have wiring schematics for the LCM, and do not know if pinout locations have changed between revisions, even though the connector is the same. When I installed my DEPO AE's, I swept the pins with my DMM to find the wire that I am using for my relay trigger tap.

Thanks!
I can't tell if the wires are different colors then yours or not. I can't believe that we both have 03 4.6iS's and the wires would be different. |

Quick question.
I'm ordering DEPO headlights...... but was checking out what was new here first, and saw this post, so i'll hold off for a moment until I get an answer on this...... J.Belknap your thread was titled.. " Lighting (Angel Eyes) wiring for factory switched operation. " Does this mean I should only follow what your showing only if I already have a factory switch, dedicated just for the angel eyes??? LOL, i'm sure your rolling your eyes at my question, but I love my X5 (a little too much) and I dont wanna order the wrong type of DEPO headlights or wire them incorrectly. Or is this a way to just turn the angel eyes on without any other part of the headlight on? (no low beam, no fog lights, just the halos) <---- I would like to wire mine up so I have the option to just have the Halo's on and nothing else.... for that slick day time look. Thanks for your time to help me out. |

Crazy huh? But, if that were the case, you should have had +12VDC with running lights on, on the same pin as me, regardless of wire jacket color. Since you don't, I think that we have an inter-year difference going on with the LCM. Do you have the same exact LCM? I wish I could help further but my limited knowledge ends there. What were the results of the voltage test on the your LCM's pin with the brown/white wire ? Quote:

No worries man, just trying to pay it forward. Good karma and all that.
If any of you guys reading this got this to work exactly as shown, could you post that you did? If you ran into a wire with different jacket color on the top connector fourth pin down on the left, and could not get this to work, could you post up? I'm curious now. Oh, and tkasser, I know what you mean by the gap, but I think it was always there and I just didn't notice. I was frustrated with it too during install, but the change in gap before/after was not noticeable to others when I asked. Maybe it's due to the black paint. Sometimes when we see things so often we see details that very few others ever take notice of. They will notice those LED's however.
