3.0d X5 (2003) Aluminium Running Boards

I've decided to finish my X5 off by installing some alu running boards, they should arrive at the main stealer tomorrow.

I`ve read other threads about this but cant find answers to these questions so I`m hoping somebody here will help.

Other than a rivet gun, will the kit have everything I need for my conversion, I`ve seen other cards around and the wheel arch trim seems to be a little wider when alu runners are installed, will I get new arch trims too?

Do I need to remove the rear wheels to do this install? or put another way, do I need to remove the lower grommets on the rear arch trims to fit the new boards or will just the front being removed do?

Thanks.

Hi Adrian,I was wondering where all the Diesels guys are?Is everyone on holiday?I know that we are a minority here and the 95% of members have 3.0i-4.8 X5,but they really do make us welcome and our a great bunch of guys(apart from one or two bad eggs!?.
Your aluminium stepboards kit will have everything included except the rivet gun, which you can purchase at any DIY place(a normal rivet gun will suffice!)
You will get 4 new fenders to follow the now wider running boards. You get rivets and push-in plugs. You need to push in all your oem rivets and pull out all your plugs. You will not need these but I suggest you keep a few just incase theres some missing with the kit.Best to get a friend to help you so that while one of you uses the rivet gun,the other will hold the fender in place.
To apply the rivets at the front, just turn the wheels,in the rear you also dont need to remove the wheels, just dont follow the kit instructions and use the push-in plugs in place of the rivets.......Good luck
