Towing with 4.8 is it safe to raise air suspension to hook up trailer?

I just had my tow hitch installed and was trying to hook up my trailer to my 4.8is for the first time, but the hitch ball was too low to hook it up. I raised the air suspension to the off road setting, it fit just fine, but I wasnt sure what it would do to teh suspension.

I was hesitant to put all that load on the rear with the suspension raised all the way up. Is it safe to do that and should I lower it to normal after I hook up the trailer?

I looked around but couldn't find the answer

Thanks!

The load on the air springs from driving down the road unladen is far more stress on the system than the tongue weight of a trailer while hooking it up. I am sure you will be okay.

On a related note, If you need some extra height on the trailer ball you can always flip the receiver insert upside down.

Thanks, I'll try that. Should I lower the height back to normal after I hitch it up?

if you dont, it'll do it for you.
i haul my 22' center console with my 4.8 no problemo.
like what was mentioned above, flip the ball to the other side of the receiver. if you need even more height, you can get more of a riser at the auto store probably.

Thanks, I know that trick but my problem is I have two tow vehicles. My yukon XL is too high already and it can't adjust like the bimmer, so I'm trying to find a short term solution before I just buy a second receiver
