Hi Alromcc,
I dont see the piece my INDY pointed to on that diagram is that an X5 3.0 2001 not sure if 2002 and later have changed but theres one piece that would be on the right side or lower side of that diagram thats like a reddish colored plastic piece I think with a possible wire coming out of it, I was told by my repair guy that that part tends to sweat so he replaces them when he does a Tranny tune up and then he spends about 1hr or 2 recoding the tranny again, he claims hes saved a few transmissions from major overhauls doing this I dont know the exact name of the part though if I find out Ill post it in here :-)

Setting aside that i am here in Qatar, so i don't worry about cold weather, My toyota fortuner here had engine wash on a regular weekly basis for years and never had issues about moistures, considering that the underside of it's valve cover was never painted.

Please advise what can painting the underside of the cover do about moisture? and what do you mean by "water gets hold of the valve cover"? Thanks.

Guess I should have noticed where you live first, Sorry. How are things in Qatar? Any boiling over violence from surrounding countries?
