19" Daimaris- any value in old ones?

Finally got tired of the staggered 19" Diamaris tires- hard riding, noisy, lousy in the rain. And the problems are always magnified each winter when I mount up my 18" snows- the snow tires ride far better, vastly superior in the wet, and are even quieter up to about 80mph. So this spring I decided the Michelins weren't going back on.

Just came back from having a new set of Bridgestone Dueler HP tires mounted on the 19's- stock 255/50, 285/45 sizes. Just 10 miles or so home but what a major change. The Duelers are amazingly quiet, only slightly harder riding than the tall sidewalled 18" snows but far better than the Daimaris's. Haven't seen rain yet but anythings got to be better than the Michelins. And they seem pretty responsive too. But even with my H&R lowering setup, I'm still not after the last bit of handling with the X5. After all it is an SUV and primarily a tow vehicle. I have my E39 5 series and the race car for fun in the turns.

So the Daimaris' that came off are now collecting dust. They all have about 4/32 remaining tread around the center rib and between 4 and 6/32 on the inner and outer tread areas. Frankly not bad for tires that covered probably 25,000 miles, much of it towing my 4500 lb trailer. Any market for 3/4 worn Daimaris tires?

BTW- the new Bridgestones were a bargain (it's all relative I suppose)- $188 each front and 208 rear. Even if they only make it 20,000 miles, I'm ok with that since they're 50% less than many of the other tires in these sizes.

Spent the better part of last week looking at tires. Duelers were probably my choice as well...

Was looking to ====the Potenza'sin in a SUV application but could not find any. Vreds might be the closest but I've never like the sidewalls

I'd say there is a market, a used tire shop wanted to charge me $100/each for worn Diamaris and would not budge on the price thinking he could get it. Of course, I got a good laugh out of it. They were worn more on one side of the tire than the other as if they came off of another X. Only problem is Diamaris are one sided so if you want to switch rims to wear the other side of the tire the sidewall looks like crap. I'm sure somebody will give you something for them. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

I recently changed from Diamaris to Latitudes. Kept one of the tires, since it was fairly new. Listed it on here as well as on Craigslist. No bites. I may list it on fleabay this weekend. Still a great tire with lots of tread left.

As a last resort, I'll drill a hole and mount one of those eyelet bolts through it and run some rope through it and tie it up high to a tree so the kids can play swing in it. Paid over $300 for that tire, so I'm going to get my $$$ out of it

I grew tired of wearing out expensive tires prematurely so I put on a set of Nankang sp-5's . . . $148 each for the rear 285/45/19's. Only had them on for about 2K now but so far so good. So cheap that it won't matter what happens to them when I'm done with them.

The tires are at my favorite Discount Tire store on Ogden Ave in Naperville. Manager is a friend and an enthusiast who takes care of a lot of the BMW and Audi folks in the area. I'll PM you details if you want to run over and check them out.

I'd say get rid of all4 of them for $120 bucks and it pays for one of your new tires. i think the dueler hp's are better than the diamaris. and cheaper too!

It would have to be first thing in the morning, I need to drive to St Louis for a funeral. Shoot me a PM with your email and we can converse off the forum.
