It actaully does feel different. I've noticed a little more pull in the early gears and what I only can describe as a smoother acceleraton. Also, before when traveling on the highway running 80mps my RPM would always be right around 3. Now, at 80mps the RPM is at 2.5. So far it seems like I've gained 1-2 mpg on my daily commute. It's just hard not to punch it at every light. The sound is most noticable, I love it! I'm not sure if it was the CAI or the DINAN MAF that can be attributed to most of the imporvement. I would search around and buy a used CAI, as the imporvements were noticable but I'm glad I only paid $100 for my stage 1 kit....$250+ is way too much.

I've had the same wheels & tires for 15k miles, so it can't be attributed to that. I pay pretty close attention to detail, so I'm just relaying my observations on the difference post CAI & MAF. If I get bored one day, I'll switch back to the OEM setup and report my results.

Only if it is now shifting into a higher gear than it did before, or the torque converter is now locking up as designed.

Could you explain this a little more to me? I've never heard of a torque converter. Am I damaging my X?

The only way for your engine to have a different rpm range for the same road speed, as you reported, and if you didn't change the wheel diameter, is for the transmission to be in a different gear, or for the torque converter to be in lockup vs not locked up.

@JCL
thanks for the lesson! With that, is this damaging to my X? Do most experience this when adding CAI & MAF? Could it be because I haven't done any software upgrades to handle the additional air flow?

I don't see how it could be damaging. Most do not experience it. It can't be due to additional air flow, as there isn't any change in airflow (that is just the claim of the CAI producers, it isn't real).
If in fact the rpm changed (down), it could mean that you weren't in top gear previously. Hard to understand why that would be, but there are few alternative explanations.

@JCL
I did do a throttle reset (when you turn key to 2, then mash gas down for 30 sec. Followed by starting up). That was the fist time I've done that, could that be the reason? True or false, Post mods the car is running smoother.
