Angry SES is on ! mechanic cant find whats the issue, plz help

whats up guys
my SES light came on , took it to my local BMW mechanic & got a p0442 (evaporative emission control system leak) , he looked @ my gas cap & said i need a new one & that should take care of the problem, he didn't have one so i went to the dealer and got a new one , took it to him and he installed it & erased the code , well that didnt work the SES light came back on a couple of days later so i went back to him & it read the same p0442 code, left the x5 with him all day to check it out but he called saying he cant find anything wrong & the only thing he can do to try to figure out the issue is to do a smoke test so i took it back to him a week later & he did the smoke test but still no luck ,he said there is no leaks anywhere !! he said sorry there is nothing else i can do & told me to take it to the dealer .
took it to the dealer & it was the same thing they cant find anything wrong & the only thing they can do to try to figure it out is a smoke test !!!
then a week after that i stoped by my friends used car lot & he scaned it for me & it read 4 codes !!????
p2271 p0140 p0442 p1168
please guys your help would be appreciated

The P1168, I got with an OBD reader from ADV AuTO, i decided to get a PEAKE BMW specific reader, and sure enough i got the correct codes which told me it was the pre and post Cat O2 sensors. I replaced both on the passenger side (it tells you which bank and number with the booklet and code reader) I reset and have not had any issues since.

Find another (competent) dealer. The codes are there to help diagnose a problem. Resetting them won't help, they need to find the root cause. You now know (with some degree of certainty) that it isn't the gas cap. All we can do is guess here, you need a technician who can follow it through and find the problem. Good luck.

i was looking at my sisters x5 and her gas cap is tight , no movment what so ever , mine moves up & down a little !!!! maybe thats the problem
also a while back i had the ses light turned off after i filled up with gas & the light stayed off for a good 450 miles but came on after i filled up again , another time i had it turned off & was on empty so i drove straight to the gas station which was about 5 miles away , filled up & it came on as soon as i turned the x5 on .

If the whole system is fully intact with absolutely no leaks whatsoever, then sometimes it is the DMTL module itself faulted...
