Good luck !.....I have same issue on my 4.8. I have searched hi & lo on-line. Arnott Industries sells a rebuilt air-strut for $ 299.00 - only problem is that they have no stock / cannot get cores to rebuild. It seems everyone else selling rebuilts is basically drop-shipping from Arnott - no one carries any stock on these. Arnott did offer to rebuild my struts, promising a 2 or 3 day turnaround which is pretty decent of them, so depending on how much money you want to spend on shipping each way, you are looking at a week to 3 weeks to get the parts back. Dealers want $ 900. to $ 1,100. each. If you do hit a source, please let me know.

I had just replaced both front air struts on my X from Arnott. When I was looking around for other sources I found some on ebay. Arnott is on ebay too but other ebayers at that time (and still have the listings right now) had them in stock. The ones that actually get them from Arnott.

Its worth a ty to email the ebayers and ask if they actually have them in stock and not just a listing. When I asked prior they said they had it in stock - meaning they did not have to wait to get it from Arnott.

Thanks for the reply Twins.......I did contact most everyone I could find on-line and E Bay that had them listed. As you say, they all seem to source from Arnott. When pushed, most admit they don't have sitting on the shelf. One outfit assured me they had them, took the order, then came back a week later saying they would have to backorder !

Aiyy caramba! Yeah, sometimes you have to ask several times to get the real answer. Well, sorry to hear. Looks like I lucked out when I got mine. I heard they were running out or out of stock already. As soon as I heard that here, I called them immediately and ordered mine. I wasn't 100% positive I had a leak but I wasn't going to wait. Now I'm glad I made that decision.

Sorry for your situation and If I find some other sources I'll post. I don't know how many backorders Arnott has but I just sent my cores back last week. So they should have at least one set for someone soon.

i bough a rear bag from tischer @ getbmwparts.com

good price of 157$ couldn't beat it anywhere and i had no luck finding a replica / non BMW part. used people online / ebay want minimum 100$ but that makes no sense to me. 40-50$ used is fine epically if it has any amount of miles. (new is better and should last me another 8 years. haha we'll see.)

not changing the driver side, yet.

of all things BMW this is such an easy replacement. the only extra step i had was to remove / loosen the sliding cargo deck so i could remove the plastic moldings inside the back compartment hiding the air system. very easy, but definitely remove the tire. i dunno how anyone could do it with removing the tire. for hahas i used the spare tire jack, boy if anybody is small or has a tiny lady friend driving the X i would recommend keeping a large screw driver or other type or long piece of metal to crank that jack.
