Advice on selling my 2005 X5, Imola Red

Hi guys,

I have a 2005 X5, 3.0i, Imola Red, 60K miles, in pristine condition. It has the cold weather package and Dakota Black leather interior. I'm the second owner, and it is BMW CPO warranty until 1/2011.

As much as it pains me, I've decided to sell her and go back to a full size SUV. I gave my Yukon to my daughter (I barely drove the X5 except on weekends), and now I find myself missing having a big, honkin' full size sport utility.

Can y'all advise me on two things:

1. What do you think she's worth? (since it's Imola Red, those are like a needle in a haystack - I've owned this one two years and I've never seen another Imola Red one). I'm thinking $21 to $23K?

2. Where do I advertise? Is ebay motors better, or Craigslist?

3. It's still financed with BMW Financial Services. Should I pay off the loan before I sell? I could probably scrape up the money somehow. How hard is it to sell a car when it's financed?

Thanks for any advice you can provide.....

(I attached a photo of when I bought it from North Haven BMW)

Ok...I will do that

I didn't realize I could post it on Xoutpost. I suppose I'll also do Craigslist.com.

I'll probably wait until early to mid August to post it. Anyone that has advice on what to price it at, let me know. My local Craigslist has 2005 X5's listed for $23 and $24K, I figure I'd price mine a little less than that, and with the rare color I shouldn't have any trouble moving it.

I live in West Virginia and I had to go all the way to Connecticut to find this one! There must be some other nut out there that wants a red one as bad as I did, lol.

The loan does not need to be paid off first, although it helps as a selling point because it is alot easier. I bought mine with a lien attached and had to wait 2 weeks for BMW financial to process the payoff and release the lien.

I have the original window sticker and it lists Imola Red for $2500. I think the Imola Red and Estoril Blue are both great colors - I wonder why BMW didn't make them regular stock colors?

And neither color is available anymore even as a Priority 1 option...seems a shame.
