homelink light won't come on

Hi All,

Just picked up my '05 4.8is last week. Spent a few days figuring out all the options. Yesterday, I tried to configure homelink, following the article in the tips section, but the homelink light never actually comes on.

Any tips on where to start troubleshooting?

Thanks.

I had to try various combinations of the buttons until it worked on my '03. The precise sequence listed in the BMW literature didn't work for mine. That could have been due to the garage door hardware as much as the vehicle. Pretty sure that is your issue as well.

Statdoc's post may be helpful, as it discusses slight differences for Canadian vehicles. Not sure if this is the tips section you are referring to:

yup, that's the exact guide I followed. I guess the question I have is, when you press any 1 of the 3 buttons, does homelink LED light up?

I started by holding down 1 and 3 for well over 20 seconds, and nothing started blinking. I can fiddle with it more, I guess. I'm just wondering if there is an easy tell tale on whether it's busted or not.

Thanks.

ok, so this morning as I was driving, I thought I would press the buttons and the green LED lit up.

So I guess it works

Forgive my rookie post.
