Thank you to everyone for the numerous responses, which are way more than I expected.
Just goes to prove the merit of such a forum.

My plan is Lube, then Heat, then Lube again, then Bolt extractors.
I assume its common sense with the Blow Torch - considering the aluminium pan.

I tried to post an image using TinyPic - so if someone can educate me then that would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again, Sal

Re. the picture, just put the Tinypic URL between the <IMG> tags. You can either use the bare URL and enter it via the "add image" button on the forum or you can use the full URL including the <IMG> tags as provided by Tinypic - just paste it into your message.

What you need to see in your message is something like this: -

Code:

FYI,

- If you need to post photos (avoid "PNG" file, use "JPEG"), simply click Manage Attachments, then find the correct photo in your computer, Choose File, then Upload.

- I took your photo and repost so everyone can see.

- This is the result of using the 12-point wrench or socket.
For tight bolts, 6-point socket is better.
Also, make sure the socket is fully seated before undoing it. If it is partially seated, it will strip.

- Please post what tool/trick you use...

Below is the video showing the difference between 6-point and 12-point sockets (or wrenches for that matter).

Skip to timing marking 6:00 to see the difference.
Then you will want to stick to 6-point if possible.
The 12-point wrench advantage is in tight spaces.

That doesn’t even look bad at all. Pretty sure if you can get Channellock in it, you can remove it. You sure you spinning it in the right direction? I had a buddy that kept spinning shit wrong way all his life.

Great DIY, somehow I managed to screw this up lol!
I swear I read somewhere that you needed an Allen key to unscrew the filler cap. Well I guess I read the wrong diy and tried filling through the wrong hole.
I couldn't get any fluid in it and it would pour out as soon as I was pumping it in. I thought maybe I need to warm my transmission so it picks up the oil from the pan, which was empty anyway...
Started the car and it splashed transmission fluid everywhere under the car.
Finally I found the right 17mm filler plug and all is good now!
I wonder what was that other hole through which I tried pumping transmission fluid??
