New X5 owner
I just bought a 2001 E53 X5 3.0d Sport with 180.000 km's. What can I say, I'm very very happy with the car, I've been at the dealer making a diagnostic test and everything is ok! I have a question that I believe will be easy for you to answer but it's the only thing I haven't understand yet. Why is the climate control turning itself on everytime I start the car, after it's been closed with alarm on, even when I turned it tottaly off last time I drove the car? Thanks in advance for your answers and congratulations on an excellent Forum. Ricardo Pires |

Welcome to the forum. It sounds as if you have a problem with your FSR. If you do a search on this forum you will find a good "how to " its a bit fiddly but easy to do.

I do not think you have a problem with the FSR
I think it is a normal BMW function to ensure ventilation . the key will activate settings which were present when the seat memory was set . your drivers handbook will explain all the functions . |

Thanks for the answers. I don't have the original handbook, but after downloading one of the petrol models (I guess the climate control works about the same way) I initially tought that it was the normal function that is memorized togheter with seats, mirrors, etc. The problem is that for more than once I've memorized all settings with the climate control completely off and it still does the same "auto on" thing... Thanks Ricardo Pires

I do not know about any ventilation, but this is a normal thing. There is nothing wrong. Actually, I would say it is a normal BMW thing.
