Well, indeed, i did have a bad water pump.... so I replaced the pump, the fan clutch, 3 pulley bearings (that's what's written on the invoice), and 2 Belts, plus the antifreeze... a total of 308USD. Labor was only 50USD so the bill was 358USD (not to mention the Taxi to go home, and the tips for the towing truck driver...)

Now concerning the aux water pump, i still don't get it! do 3.0 have it? if yes, then what's the purpose of it, since a failed primary will make you stop? can someone clarify this issue to me?

What isn't to get? The 2003 I looked up above has it, according to realoem. On that site, it shows the 2001 has it as well.

It boosts coolant circulation in the heater circuit. It doesn't cool the engine, it helps the heater to get hot faster.

I suppose it could leak, but the most common failure mode appears to be it making a noise, not leaking.

ok, so it's not a secondary in the sense of "backup"... this caused the confusion...

Auxiliary water pump failure modes - And seemingly drawing too much power, blowing fuse 48 and losing me my AC controls!
