Rear Tail light assembly bad: burned spot on circuit board ? ? ?

I took my X5 in for a bad actuator on a door lock, a light on my dash came on: the right rear tail light.

The dealer is telling me that I need to replace the whole tail light assembly because of a burn spot on the circuit board.

What I don't understand is: the lights all work (tail lights, blinkers, brake etc...) and it is not covered by the CPO so they want close to $400.

what lights are affected? (the ones on the hatch?)

what are my options and beside the annoyance of a light on my dash board

Advises?

dosn't make sense.
could find a taillight on ebay if you had too.

might want to remove taillight and examine board...

not sure what a 'burn spot' is...

"Burn spot on the (tail light) circuit board"??? I was into the rear tail light wiring when I installed additional tail lights where the rear fog lights are to tap current from the rear tail lights and there were only the wires and bulb sockets ....... NO CIRCUIT BOARD!! I think the stealer is blowing $$$$$ smoke at you.
