Engine blew up after 130 000 miles. Any ideas?
I have no idea, but I would certainly expect V8 engine to go much further, when properly serviced. One suspicious thing, though. Before the trip I was trying to operate the internal heater with timing functionalities, without much success. Could this have been turned on during the drive and trigger events of damage done? Thnx in advance for any suggestions and greetings from Finland. |

Wecome to the site.
Sorry to hear about this but it seems clear to me that If that engine can´t be repaired, buy another engine, have it installed, or buy another vehicle. I know you looking to be consoled but that's the hard reality.

It sounds as if it may have been caused by the oil separator freezing up. In that case, it is worth doing a little investigation to determine the true extent of any damage to the engine, before writing it off. It would be money well spent.

I would suspect failed oil seperator as well. When you say the engine "blew out all the oil and stopped" do you mean that it ran a bit and siezed? Or did it suddenly lock? I know all that oil can cause hydrolock but I've never heard of that when running.
I agree it's worth making sure the engine is permanantly damaged before investing in another one.. Im curious what happened? Can you possibly post some pics? -Ben |

Thanx all for your response
Oil separator freeze is then what to look for. Thing happened very sudden while driving normally. It ran only a couple of hundred yards and then seized with yellow warning light. Unfortunately I don´t have pics since the vehicle is currently in another town in repair shop and I am prepared the engine to be replaced.

New replacement engine blown after 620 miles!
Hi, I had my 4.6is engine replaced after it was blown some 3 months ago. I only had my car back from the shop after a month ago and now with some 620 miles it blew all oil out during regular ride. The pressure had removed the oil filler cap and engine space was filled with oil. Could this be a broken piston? I had my car towed back to the shop and waiting now for the analysis. Devastating.

Search "oil seperator" on this site!!! You will find tons of info of how and why this happens. It looks like the seperator failed the first time causing this. The shop you took it too did not find the correct cause and it happend again. This is the shops fault! Not yours!
