Typically and if you don't break anything, the mechanism will freeze latched but if you pull hard enough but don't break anything the latch is held "unlatched" until it thaws out.

There is a way to treat the DLA so it will not freeze in the future.

Good eyes, that's indeed an ol' RT sharing the garage with the E53 (there's a black 05 E53 3.0 on the other side ... because apparently I'm a glutton for punishment.)

I'm relatively new to four-wheeled BMWs, but have been enjoying the two-wheeled variety for about 30 years now. Mostly old airheads.

When you get the "Check brake linings" on the dash, is there any way to tell which axle it thinks is low? I have been searching for a half an hour trying to figure this out. Not even the foxwell will tell me apparently.
