Most of the time, the scoring does not extend above the surface of the lobes... Scoring on the camshafts or trays is not as serious as it would be on the crankshaft. I recently had an M54 exhaust cam polished out by a machinist for $100..

Removed one of my best X5 purchases.
![]() Picked up my X5 after parking it for a week. I had to test drive my niece's 2006 Jeep Liberty. I replaced a bad heater core. Installed a new evaporator while the dash and box were accessible. A true experience for when the X5 needs a blow motor replacement.

Today replaced sparkies and (drumroll pls) pre-cat O2 sensors, topped up some fluids. Seems to idle and drive more smoothly. Haven’t driven it enough to set any codes. Oddly I drove it over 100mi this past weekend and no fuel trim codes. Plugs looked ok but I already had new NGKs so chucked em in. Cyl 6 is a big stretch if you’re not very tall…
Replacing the post-cat sensors next week when I have some lift time booked. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
