I wonder how well it works on aluminum or magnesium wheels.

Got a pressure washer ?
Any of the heavy OTC acid wheel cleaners is fine. Just do it on a cool surface (cloudy day, early morning or late afternoon), very short dwell and pressure rinse it I don't even use soap or a brush on the wheels no more. Pressure washer get's the job done and I follow up with a old mitt, as mechanical agitatio is still required to removed the ~road film~ that a pressure washer doesn't remove |

I'm going to hold you to that. Very nice wheel. What finish/offset you going with? If you aren't waiting to the reveal that is...
As jsoto says... this is acidic so I'm guessing it works well but only have experience with this version. They have different formulations (packaging) for different metals... and a hotline to call too if you have questions. So I'm sure they have a product that can do the job. Quote:
Good tip. I do have one but it would take me longer to drag out and setup than to do a set of wheels this way. Plus, my wheels never get this bad and my no rinse wash and wax works fine on them while I'm doing the rest of the truck. These wheels were just in horrible condition so wanted to take the opportunity to check out some products. Hopefully the results/info will help some of the others.

I have been using good old oven cleaner on my wheels for as long as I can remember and its a heck of a lot cheaper than any "wheel cleaner"
