03+ headlight glue that won't melt to install angel eyes

Never stopped me

I tried to heat them first since they are 7/02 I thought MAYBE, but no...... they weren't budging and I have written several DIY's for headlight before so I knew immediately these were hi temp glue headlights.

Dremel time

I simply dremeled the line, popped them open, did the AE install, siliconed them back. About 4 hours each headlight with 75% tach time on the silicone.

They went back perfect, and the silicone dried crystal clear so even if you could see it (which you cannot after you put the rubber strip back on the headlight) then it wouldn't be an issue either way.

I wasn't wasting a year looking for 01-02 headlights and buying more when I already have some nice ones so this was the result

Great job O.L.T...Thanks for sharing
I admire your braveness!100 or so threads later and you come up with a nice how to, on opening the 2003 headlights and make it look easy
Think it deserves to be put in the articles section.

I know some will say ,why didnt you remove the orange and the waffles, but you wanted to keep it oem looking ,right, but just with AEs!Nice one!
As long as you have a good seal on them ,from the finished photos, you cant even tell they been cut....

Thanks all. Moisture issues are not from improper sealing they are from improper venting. You can damn near pour water straight down the inside of a headlight as long as it can properly vent. Make sure the vent tubes are clean and they have a clean filter in them (which is like a cotton substance). During hot days the air inside the headlights condense, but they dry out instead of steaming up due to the vent tubes. The more you try to make it air tight, the more chance you'll have of moisture buildup.

By the time I got the eyes on a proper wire (parking wires were only 2 volts??) it was pretty much too dark to take pics without them glowing and blowing out from the contrast. I'll take dusk pics tomorrow.

This is sweat equity.... I have done many of this jobs even on E60 headlights .
Btw you didn't ask me for permission about using dreamer tools lol
You need to custom metal clips to hold the lens in place .. After so long the covers will fall off.

Great writeup! Can you tell me which specific rings you bought and fron where? Some seem too small and yours have the perfect size
