text capable cluster & OBC question

Hi all, I've search my topic here and have not come up with any answers.
Please let me know if I'm missing the correct part (MID).

I have the text capable cluster and a DSP MID (Non-NAV) which only has the clock button on it. On the signal stalk, I can click through avg speed, avg consumption and fuel range will show up on my OBC (in cluster) and when I skip a track on the cd player (through steering wheel buttons), the name will show briefly on the cluster.
My current MID will scroll the text of the music playing, but it does not scroll/display constantly on my text capable OBC (cluster).

I read a lot of posts that suggest that if the OBC cluster is text capable, then I should have a lot more features (time, aux heating, distance...) on my MID too. But when I cycle through with my BC button on the signal stalk, I only get the 3 mentioned above. It seems like my MID is too basic.

Could it be that I have the wrong MID in the vehicle, and actually need the MID with clock symbol and BC on the button (part ends with ...610)?
I currently have the MID that ends with ...606.
Can I swap out the MIDs and get full functionality to show on my text capable cluster?

OH, one more question.
Next to the buttons on the right side on the MID there seem to be LED lights. Do these ever light up, and what are they used for?

Nik, I've tried all the tricks I've read about and nothing can be changed on my MID or cluster.

the cluster is what controls all the Board Computer Functions, But its the MID that allows you to select which options to display. Hold the BC button on the turn signal stalk, and wait till the cluster says PROG. and then on the MID select which options you want to display. If you have the incorrect MID installed, this may not work, you can disconnect the instrument cluster or test function 21 to reset the instrument cluster. and then all options will show from default.

Killcrap.
I tried the "hold BC button on signal stalk and wait till PROG shows on MID" multiple times and it never shows up. Thats why I'm thinking I have the wrong MID installed.

I will search how to reset the cluster and see if that works.
Thank you.

still trying to figure out why my MID does not show any options like consumption, speed, limit.
Does anyone know how I can get those to show on my MID?

Your MID doesn't show the extended OBC features because it can't. If you still have the same MID that does NOT have the button on the bottom right that has the clock face symbol and the BC icon...then you have the LOW MID installed.

The low MID doesn't have the capability to show the extended OBC features. And if you really have the HIGH instrument cluster...something is terribly wrong.

The high instrument cluster (has the 20 digit alpha/numeric display) comes with the HIGH MID. The low instrument cluster (has a GRAPHIC display - a pictogram of a car with 4 doors) and comes with the low instrument cluster.

By this time (1yr + 9 months)...a picture of both your instrument cluster & MID could have gotten you the answer you seek. So since you haven't posted any pics of your set up perhaps the images below will bring some clarification to your situation.

Again, a high MID requires a high CLUSTER...and a low (base) MID requires a LOW cluster...if you actually have a HIGH cluster & low MID...you need to find a HIGH MID w/BC button to get the extended OBC features to appear in both locations. The ability to program the OBC features into the instrument cluster will require the calling up of the OBC feautres in the MID...then press the SET button (on the MID) when you've programmed the features you want to appear in the cluster:

QSilver, that is vry interesting cause i definitely have the high end cluster (20 digit alpha/numeric display) but my MID is a version like the high end picture, but below my telephone button, is a button with just a clock on it and NO BC symbol. Im not sure why, but I even bought a used MID with the BC button on it and I couldnt get it to sync and neither could BMW. I watched them try.
and the mystery continues.
