Ya - we replaced my 4.6is with a new Mazda CX9, and it's nowhere near as fun or nice to drive as the 8 year old X5 was. I do miss it. But our situation changed and my wife is now driving the SUV daily during the school year so between that and family hauling on the weekends we are just logging too many miles to keep the 4.6is - just the consumables are quite expensive - tires, brakes, gas, etc. Got more than 20% of the original MSRP for it when I sold it too with 130K miles on it! I would not expect to see that with the Mazda. But even so, total ownership costs will be much lower - especially considering the purchase price is less than half to start with so right off the bat depreciation will be lower no matter what. That said, I bought the X5 used and way down on the depr curve so that cost was very low in my 2 years of ownership.

The haggis mondus novis is unique to the south, and is bred due to superior genetic characteristics..........so no more funny legs!

Cheers,

It must be tricky to spot and catch if it can run around flat ground .

They tend to roll around allot when excited. Easy to pounce upon and catch for the pot!

Cheers,

Cheers,
I assume you are in the southern tropics as haggis mondus novis sounds as though it is related to dux magnus equatorius which grazes on the plain .
All Haggis at near polar latitudes graze on hillsides with the northern Haggis grazing south facing slopes in winter moving clockwise to the west in spring , north in summer and east in the autumn .

The temperature has dropped significantly here in the past few days sending the Haggis scurrying to the south slopes .

Seen a Haggis gustasus similus pullus today . the have even legs and live on flat ground .
I thought most of them had scarpered to Spain to graze mainly on the plain .
Whenever I go to Spain I always eat at a small restaurant run by Juan Cahuna .
Apparently he is a retired Matador .
As haggis is seasonal I usually have Juans speciality of Cahunas del Torro which is a double portion of huge meatballs .
On my most recent visit he had changed the special to Cahunas del matador so I decided to try that .
The portions were very small , akin to plum tomatoes but I reckon it was due to the economy .
As I was paying the bill Juan asked as usual " you enjoy your meal senior "
I said yes thank you but the portion was much smaller than the previous special .
Juan informed me " dey from de bullfight senior "
what difference does that make I enquired .
Juan replied " sometimes de bull wins .

I would never catch a used X5 without warranty extended (service cover), sorry. Never.

On the other hand, if you have the factory warranty or extended warranty, you can rest assured that BMW is a serious company, at least here in Brazil.

The car is a monster, a pleasure, a dream. But the complete maintenance without a cover is a nightmare. I have a 4.8is 2006.

Believe me.

With 2012 right around the corner, even the newest 06's are out of BMW's new car warranty and most of them will be coming off of the 6 year CPO. The best we can hope for is to find one fresh out of CPO / extended maintenance.

Or find a 7 year old one with 11K miles. Of course, mine has almost 20K on it, now. Replacing the diff and transmission fluids/filter, cooling fluids, and brake fluids for the 20K mile 'anniversary' in January.

No, never again, crap reliability, battery drain that no-one knows how to cure! BMW state the vehicle must be driven every day for at least 10 miles WTF
I have never heard such crap in my 30+ years of driving, the truth is they are selling Faulty vehicles that are not fit for their purpose, most unreliable car I have ever owned, sits on our driveway as an ornament unless I take the battery out every day to charge it.
