Sheesh! Apparently the saga continues. The parts labeled #2 & #3 in the photos I marked up are not part of the parts breakdwown for any of the online images of the underguard.

The only ones I have and received are what are shown and labeled. Those little triangular things are not labeled separate for some reason.

Anyone know if there's a part number for those?

PropellerHead, maybe you can harass your very good friend who kindly provided us the PDF once more and see if he has any info on Items C and D from the parts overview page of the install sheet?

Apparently they're an important piece in holding up the rear of the underguard!

Thanks,
MANGO

Well, I took the install sheet to the dealer in town and pointed to those triangular looking brackets and they couldn't pull up a part number nor a picture of them on their database.

So far, no luck on those in terms of part numbers.

Where did you buy yours from? Seems like if you didn't get all the required parts, you may just have to buy one or more of the 3 parts kits.

Maybe have to buy 51130028858 in order to get your missing parts. Try asking if you can return the parts kit if its not the correct one - wherever you buy it.

TwinsPoppa,

The part numbers above are what PropellerHead was able to pull up based on an install it. I don't understand though why the little triangular pieces are not called out since they're critical to the install.

I ordered all 3 from BMW of South Atlanta including the one you mentioned:
Underride protection. Fits: X5 | BMW of South Atlanta

So, you already ordered all 3 parts kits but didn't receive all the parts from the install PDF?

I'd go back to them and show the install PDF parts list showing the missing parts. Maybe they didn't ship all the parts by accident.

Just because the triangle parts don't show in the diagram does not mean its not part of one of the 3 parts kits.

I might try that. I just have a feeling they're going to say that the parts I'm still in need of are not pictured in any of the 3 parts numbers I ordered therefore are not part of the order.

I actually did receive all that is pictured in those part numbers, which makes me wonder if the triangular pieces are yet another part number entirely.

It makes me think that perhaps the missing parts (including the little fish hook tool) only come when you order the whole thing, mounting hardware and underride altogether. Even then, that doesn't make sense as to why BMW wouldn't make those triangular pieces available separately when the other 3 part numbers for the install hardware are.

I say make them earn their money. Show the PDF install document (they should have access to it anyways). Let THEM tell you how you can get the other parts you need. They are a BMW dealer right?

Well, just as I suspected was confirmed by BMW of Atlanta:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The part number of the kits fits underride part # 51130028856 and 51130138345 which are an older version, no longer available.

The PDF in your email is for the new style underride, 51130392164 and 51130392919. There are no kits available to this design.

Also, it is possible too, that some pieces such as items C D and F may not even be part of a separate install kit.

The illustration of the kits you did order, show just basic hardware, nothing as pictured in the PDF. Parts C D and F would have been included in the main underride set

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I guess I'm S.O.O.L.
