"33mpg (Imperial) from new. "

That's darn good mileage. You must have a very light foot!

As of now, my E53 is at 95,500.

Got it as a pup in January 2014 at 78,000 miles.

For my thinking and budget, I think this is a sweet spot of mileage for buying an older vehicle. Enough age to command a significant discount off new but not enough miles to affect the longevity if reasonably owned and maintained previously.

My newer vehicle strike mileage is about a 3-4 year old vehicle with about 30-40K miles. Again, old enough to command a significant discount/depreciation from new, still some factory warranty remaining to handle OOPS items and low enough mileage not to have impacted long term longevity with prior owner reasonable driving and maintenance care. (my 2007 E90 just turned 50K miles) :thumb up:

213,111 miles on my X5 4.6. I bought it with this mileage for a very low price because it needs chain guides. It's in excellent shape otherwise, and the interior hardly looks like it has that many miles.

Dannyzabolotny, looks great! Certainly doesn't look like it has over 200,000 miles on it.

Dannyzabolotny,

That is cosmetically outstanding for that mileage. Especially the driver's seat. A testament to the quality of BMW materials and the prior owner's in/out cycles and possibly very long trips which minimizes in/out cycles on the seating. Could also have been a petite female driver or modest weight male which IMHO plays heavily on seating wear.

Some running gear/suspension components may need changing at that mileage but nothing a person with your skills wouldn't be able to handle.

When you're done, you'll have a great performing ride at very low total cost.

Yeah, the previous owners definitely took good care of it. I got plenty of service records with the car as well, indicating that quite a few suspension components have already been replaced, along with most of the cooling system. There are tons of dealer records on the Carfax as well, since this X5 was serviced at BMW dealers until 2011 and then at an independent shop (which is where I bought this X5 from). After I do the chain guides the engine should be bulletproof for the next 100,000 miles at least.

An excellent pedigree Danny.

Definitely worth saving the engine from timing chain rail devastation, IMHO.

Mine is at 125,5xx as of this morning.

Just bought it a few months ago with 125,0xx on the clock. It's a 2001 3.0i 5A.

No rust, which is great considering its Michigan history, however it's been roughed up pretty good.

Driver seat is torn open on bottom outer bolster near seatback, both right side door panels have many busted clips (due to prior window regulator woes, I'm sure), but besides that, it's very clean for its age.

Body is another story. There's a fist-sized dent along the body creas in the upper tailgate. It's been smacked over the rear right wheel, which I can only assume bent the upper control arm as that wheel has some moderate negative camber (2.5*). Front left wheel has smacked a curb, likely, as it has 1,5* of positive camber. Front fenders and hood don't quite match the rest of the car. Windshield is spidered pretty good, and I was told it's a repo. The salvage title confirms this. I'll have it all repaired in due time, and I will have the title re-certified as well.

The headlights and taillights are faded, of course. It's lived outside its whole life, and probably will continue to do so, but with much greater care to be taken.
