No enough clearance to remove/install air suspension bag BMW X5 2002

I'm replacing my air suspension air bags in my BMW X5 (E53?) 4.4 2002 following instructions from BMW TIS Online Repair Manuals. Everything follows perfect but I don't have enough space between the wheal well body and the wheal assembly (axe, brake caliper assembly) to remove the old airbag. Already lose the long strut bolt but the assembly still doesn't go down any further. How can I obtain enough clearance to remove and reinstall the new ones? Am I doing something wrong? May be there is another route? Help will be appreciated

OK, I have the old one out. I had to remove the strut and squeezed/bent the airbag out through that opening. I don't know how would I get the new one IN without breaking it. I will do it tomorrow at daylight. Time to go sleep.

dgtal, I take it you are talking about the rears. No need to take the shoch dampers off but it probably helps. Mine went in (and out) simply by bending the bag in the middle. I did not remove the dampers or anyting else. Bending them does not hurt or break them.

Yes, I'm bending it. The dampener needs to be removed along with the plastic assembly tha carries the fluid tubings to the wheal assembly (caliper). I will post the results.

I have 2001 BMW X5 4.4i Sports model.
Do I have sport suspension or comfort suspension?
Do I have 4 corner air leveling or rear air leveling ONLY?

Thanks.

I don't think anything more than rear air was offered until after 2002 somewhere.
