BMW just told me i need a new subframe.. 7500$

wow man hitting a curb going over 60 mph shifted my whole suspension. I need a new subframe and quoted me at 7500$. debating if i should just sell the car.. I am thinking of contacting my insurance company and see if they can cover the damage. need new control arms all around, hub bearings and more... what a mess

thats a huge bummer.

I would be thinking of parting it out if faced with same situation.

If the repair cost hits 75% of blue-book value insurance will total it and give you very low blue-book value for compensation, cause the actual repair cost can baloon once the shop do tear down of the car.

the good news is, as designed, you are ok in an accident that coulda' crippled you not very long ago..
the bad news is that it WILL cost you your (beloved) BMW..

Why not hit a BMW oriented Indie, vs that glee full, hand rubbing dlr, as rec'd in your other posts?

Otoh, hitting the curb at ~60, probably didn't help the situ.

guys is it worth fixing it, or to just sell the car and look for something else? or try to get insurance to cover majority of the cost. besides anyone here with experience can tell me that if insurance covers it and i only pay my deductible, doesn't the car value drop after that? and also what are the chances that the car will be 100% after that? right? what would you do if you were in this situation on a serious note. please advise i need to make fast moves. its an 06, with 42,000 miles on it. lemans blue with nice bridge interior and the pants is practically flawless with new brakes and rotors on (changed them last week)

Use the insurance claim. Get it inspected, get insurance involved, pay the deductible, and get it repaired. It'll cost much less out of your pocket in the long run. If the repair is too high, they'll total the car, and you can get yourself a new car. No worth fixing with your own wallet. Use insurance, that's what it's for. Good luck man.

Labor costs on top of the needed parts are part of the repair bill for the original accident that you had. You will only have to pay the deductible. Anything else over the deductible is paid by the insurance company.

If insurance fixes it, replacing the subframe leads to future issues? is it as good as new? or am i going to be looking at a future mess of constant fixes? cars not the same anymore right?
