Thanks for the info. Yes, I would need to agree with you on replacing the expansion tank.

Giznaz, as for the Tranny oil, I believe ECS sells the ATF Service Level 2, with the Shell M1375.4 Fluid.

ECS, is the Shell M1375.4 fluid, not BMW OEM?
I think the LifeGuard fluid is the same as the Shell oil. We should let ECS chime in.

And yes, the idea is the plastic expansion tank becomes brittle and can break after 100K miles.

You have two kits available the servicing of the E53 4.4 trans which contain fluids which reach the BMW specifications.
One uses RedLine D4 and the other does use the BMW Shell M1375.4 automatic transmission fluid.

I would use the OE fluid - if it was me.

I would never use the generic Redline fluid.

I would use the Shell fluid, as they were the supplier to ZF for their Lifeguard fluid, and owned the spec. That doesn't make them OE BMW, but it does make them OEM for ZF.

The alternative is to buy the OE fluid from the dealership and remove all doubt.

ECS,

If I can read correctly, the Shell is good, but not BMW OEM.
You do sell BMW OEM transmission fluid. Could you incorporate the BMW OEM fluid into an ATF Service Kit Level 2?

Lesse. . .

$284 for Shell MIGHT be the right stuff kit vs
$241 for the right stuff full kit.
The difference is 1 liter of fluid.

I'm good with that math.

The Shell is the BMW fluid. Sorry for the confusion guys.

The fluid in the kit found HERE (listed as Shell M1375.4) is the BMW fluid. The BMW OEM Transmission fluid is Shell M1375.4.

ECS,

Forgot one more thing. Would you be able to replace the Xengst oil filter for the BMW OEM oil filter (ES#:24003) in the Inspection 1 Service Kit?

Do you sell the front differential fill & drain plugs? I only found the rear differential plugs (ES#:205597), would these be the same to buy for the front?

I'm also thinking of "flushing" the power steering fluid, from the top. Suction old out, top with new & run for 3-4 minutes, repeat until suctioned fluid is clean. For these, it says to use ATF fluid. Should I just buy 2 bottles of the BMW OEM ATF fluid? Or use BWM OEM Pentosin CHF 11S fluid?

Douglas

Just answered your PM before I spotted your post,

HERE is a custom cart for that kit using a genuine BMW filter instead of a Xengst.

ES205597 is use in both the front and rear diffs

I feel CHF 11S is superior to ATF as a power steering fluid, that being said you'll need to drain the system fill and bleed it properly when converting to CHF 11S.
