2006 E53 USB input

Afternoon all: Visiting here for the first time. Daughter is about to pull the trigger on a 2006 X5 3.0 with 70k on the clock. Everything appears cool except one thing. The car has NAV (widescreen cassette head unit) with a 6 CD changer in the trunk. She also has a USB plug next to the power socket by the ashtray. The USB input will play songs from her iPod but only displays on the instrunment panel, not from the NAV display. It also only shows tracks - no playlists, artists, etc.

I wasn't aware there was an ipod option for this car that didn't sacrifice the CD changer (?) Anybody aware of this setup? Also, if it is kosher, any ideas why nothing shows up on the main nav display (just in the alpha display between the speedo and tach)?

Thanks in advance.

Keith

Thanks. Let me see what I can do. As I recall, the Dension interface was an early effort and the functionality was a bit flakey (maybe explaining the problems sh's having).
