Um yeah, those guys couldn't get out, they panicked, which led to cannibalism, then starvation, and finally stupidity.

You know, they remind of that sound a jet ski makes, what's that sound again? Oh yeah, "Douche, douche, douche!"

The depth of the water doesn't determine the 'utility' vs the 'activity'. Lucky he didnt flood the electronics in the rear luggage compartment storage wells. Or maybe he did.

I've forded rivers like that but wouldn't attept it in a BMW X5

was it a getaway car for a bank robbery? that got stuck on the malfunctioning air ride suspension???? They should have checked with the X5 world before attempting that - we would have told them, it was a bad idea!!!!!!!!!!

The water flow is too fast, the x could be pushed in lateral direction by the water. Too dangerous! I did something like that before, no problem for x5 to cross a river like that, but never in fast flow water! Only concern is the 220mm ride height at offroad mode which is merely enough. X-drive performs excellent during offroading. Here are some pics that I did same thing like that.

It is nice to know, that X5 that has been touted as a "look-alike" to an SUV can actually do some offroading, even though, I would not do something like that in a $70K (US price) vehicle, I'd rather get a Jeep Wrangler for $15K. I had plenty of opportunities to do the same while in Costa Rica but did not do it - I took a cross on a bridge that was made of steel ropes and 1x6 wooden planks with huge gaps between them, and that still sends shivers down my spine in retrospect. And taking Sierrra De La Muerte in the middle of the night when the road is officially closed (and you convince a local cop to let crazy gringo to go through on his way to Panama) - it was not the best ideas I had!!! After I saw in the daytime what I have crossed in the middle of night, I was thinking about airlifting the car to go back home to San Jose!!! lol... That picture is actualy of another road, in Bolivia, but the one in Costa Rica is very similar...
