2002 X5 SOUNDS LIKE HOOVERCRAFT, VIDEO INCLUDED fan clutch problem, will any fit??

HI, I HAVE A LOUD STRANGE NOISE FROM MY CAR. ITS A 2002 E53 4.4I. ITS SOUNDING LIKE A HOOVERCRAFT. WE HAD THE CAR TAKEN APART TO CHANGE THE TIMING CHAIN GUIDES AND WHEN WE PUT IT TOGETHER WE HAVE THIS NIOSE COUPLED WITH A AMBER LIGHT ON DASH (deterioration of exhaust emission control values?)

the only thing i can think of is that we started the car with a pipe off the secondary air pump but fixed this.

does anyone have any ideas? this car is costing me a fortune!!

video of problem bmw x5 engine noise! sounds like hoovercraft, please help! - YouTube

it varies with revs and never goes away!

It sounds like a vacuum leak. Did you check all the connections from the CCV and such? Those small vacuum hoses can create that noise if they are split, have holes in them or are missing.

Are you sure the fan clutch is not sticking?

Dont think it is a fan clutch as i can rotate it freely by hand. There was one hose that i thought was a breather on the right hand side valve cover? Or should this be connected to something?

Is it hard black plastic? Lay across the front of the right VC? Thats the breather hose for the tranny, its normal.

Right i found an air pipe off. I put it back on an still have the noise. It did make the car idle better though. (light is still on but im guessing it will need cleared by a computer?)

Could it be the fan clutch? Anyway of testing this?
