Slick,

I was following the Post #42 steps you outlined line by line, being mindful of the "spring looking shits" you mentioned. 'Was doing the push and pull number on the shades per your instructions when I hear a spring uncoiling sound.

Opened the driver's side back door and found the springs literally sitting like this. Needless to say, I did not get to see any visual reference where these were installed and where they came from.

You mentioned on Post #42 these are both on the passenger side? I could use some help/direction on where and how exactly they're oriented.

Thanks!
MANGO

Wait, did i say pass side, I am almost sure these were on drivers side. These are on the rear shade, driver side under the screws. If you look at your shade, there will be a dent location for them. As in, there is a place that you can see that they go into on the shade. There really is only one way that they will go back in, and still allow the screw to go in.

In your picture, the bottom spring is laying in the correct orientation. If you were to lift it up and place on top of your rear shade, while standing on the drivers side and looking at the shade down from the top, these slip in between the shade track and the shade.

Ok, I've mocked up different possibilities for these tiny suckers. I think I know what you are describing but I wanted a visual reference to go with it so there's no confusion (and for anyone else who may want to do this later on).

Is it one of these set ups?

Thanks Slick!

Pic 1 or 2 for sure. You will see exactly when you put it in there. The screw won’t go in one of those positions. The bar in the middle of the spring will be visable the screw hole. The correct way is for the bar in the middle of spring to be not in the screw hole.

Almost 100% it’s 2 by the way.

Christ. What is the purpose of these things for anyway?
Maybe if I have a clue of what they do I'll have a better understanding of how to cram them back in there.

Pretty sure they are just anti rattle/slop. If you noticed, those screws were very light to remove. Like it took stupid little amount of torque from the wrench to remove. So don’t tighten them up like crazy when putting back in. That side sort of floats. I think it takes out the play in the assembly and maybe compensates for loose tolerances. Not quite sure myself. Odd that it’s only one side as well.

Don’t stress about putting them back in. I drew myself a picture when I took it out, and still had to figure it out on assembly. Once you get the rear shade back in, before you put the screws in, you will slide them into those spots, then screw them down. I don’t think it’s super crucial how they sit in there. The idea is for the shade mechanism to be able to slop a bit, not be fixed in place like the other side.

Just for clarity, they will stay on the shade exactly as you have them in your pics. The metal shade bracket will be on top, and screw will go through the metal bracket, through this spring and into the shade.
