any info on CNG (compressed natural gas) kit for BMW x5?

One of my friend has converted his FORD F-250 to CNG (compressed natural gas) and keep telling me how much cheaper it is. In my area the price per gallon equivalent of CNG is only $2.79 while the gas(premium) cost $3.99. Anyone has done the conversion for their X5? Please post your experience here. Is it hard to do?(My friend sent his F-250 to a shop to do the conversion, but that shop doesn't do BMW). I know the cargo space in X5 is tiny and a CNG tank will take quite a bit of that space.

There are LPG conversions for the X5 in Europe, particularly the UK. Similar concept. They use a round tank sized like a spare tire, mounted in the spare tire well.

Best example of a clean CNG conversion is the Volvo V70 wagon done right next to the factory in Sweden. Only available in Europe, but if you look at the pictures on line you will see an array of bottles, and a false trunk floor above them.

Ford pickups are now available from the factory (well, a second factory next to the Ford assembly line) with an integrated CNG package. Same price premium as the diesel, around $9k.

With all vehicles, you need to be doing a lot of annual miles to pay for the systems. On class eight trucks, you need to be in the 60,000 miles per year and up bracket to make it work. On lighter vehicles, taxis make sense but not often private vehicles, unless you have very high fuel prices as they do in the UK.

Here in the uk they are becomin more popular. I love my lpg as it is nearly half the price of petrol. In the states... Your prices are so cheap I don't think it would be worth doing?
