"Monitor Incomplete" getting ready for smog! and cant pass that ,monitor...help!

i got this bmw few days ago,at 68K and had few problems,
like abs and brake sensors where ripped from rear pass. tire explosion,so fixed that and all worked fine,no lights at dash!

today i went to do the smog, and it failed ,for "monitor incomplete"
and they said that bad battery or i did not drive the car for at least 100 miles,

Now it was starting really hard after 3-4 engine turns,so i was to autozone, and they said that battery was going dead, bad.,so purchased new one,and switched
right there on the spot, took old one out and put new one within 2 minutes,

after this i drove it for about 70 miles, comeback to the smog shop ,and they put to test if ready and they said "not ready",so i went again and drove 70 miles more, and comeback to smog shop.and again some problem "not ready"

they guy said to drive at constant speed for at least 3 minute, like to press the gas,and keep it the same for at least 3 minutes,so i did that,on the freeway, now they are closed,so i have to go next week,to re-check with them,

but i also have a obd 2 tester ,and it telling me some info, that it still may not be ready...

i dont know exactly ,what i must do ...

any advice? help?,will appreciate!

i attached 3 pictures,2 of them ar from my obd2 and the 1 white page is from the smog shop!

thanks.

Those both say the same thing. The evaporative and secondary air injection system monitors have not ran.

Secondary air only comes on when starting the vehicle cold.
Evap monitor on some vehicles will only run when sitting overnight, with 1/4-3/4 tank of fuel, some require a freeway drive (like the smog shop said) followed by sitting overnight.

do this and then you can go through inspection.

key points, don't go over 60MPH, use small throttle inputs, and keep the engine below 3000RPM. If you don't follow these rules you will not be able to complete the drive cycle.

Same thing happened to me this past December on my 2002 4.6is, I kept getting a code for this little sensor ( I've forgotten the name) mounted on the front of the engine. It would only turn the check engine light on about 3 or 4 times a month, as luck would have it it came on the morning I was going to get my smog done. I was going to try and get it smogged in between cycles but said screw it, I'll bite the bullet and replace the sensor, cost me $80. So I replaced the sensor, cleared the code out, went to get my smog, and I failed! The technician said that I needed to drive the car at least 70 miles and and have several start up cycles in that time frame, to reset the monitors. I see you're in Rocklin, I'm in West Sacramento.

so i guess i may have to wait overnight ,and then next day do some more driving and hopefully it will be good to go... i did all this today, and maybe the engine and the electronics needs some rest...
thanks for your advice!

If you follow the document properly you can do it in 11 miles.

SwissFrank is giving you the straight scoop.

You MUST complete the drive cycles to set the readiness bit.

Where I live and work, I can easily complete 2 drive cycles in one day driving to and from work.

Driving in excess of the drive cycles, while fun and enjoyable, does not make it go any faster. You could drive a tank of gas out in one setting, but the needed parts wouldn't be complete, this is wasting your gas and time.

The key is the COLD start, and the minimum times for each phase.
