Gearstick problem

So guys i have a 06 x5 4.4 with almost 100k miles. I come acroos this problem the gearstick will never light up you know how it says P R N D and there is those red lights, mine will never light up can you guys give me any suggestions?

Do PRND LIGHT UP IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER? IF YES THEN CHECK THE LAMP OF THE GEARSTICK. REFER TO A MECHANIC

Ye i can see it in the cluster just not on the selector does this mean the lights are blown?

MIGHT BE. That's a logic answer, since u r not encountering any other transmission problem

I would try to figure out how to remove the cover and look for a bulb. then replace with and LED to be cool.

I know how to take it off there is a wire that connects to it if i am right its yellow

I don't know, I've never tried to remove mine and can't even remember if mine lights up... I have bigger fish to chase on my X5 still.
