press MENU, select SETTINGS, look at top right corner of the screen... last version for MK4 should 4/2-00 (or is it 4-2/00?)

To check the version,Turn the key on 1 stage, press the dashboard selection "menu" and select "setting" on top right you will see a SW 4-1/02 ,if you have the OS V32.2
or SW 4-1/00 if you have version V32.0, or SW4-1/93 original old version ,that give problems with new 2011 and recent maps....

The number 4 ,refers to the "MK4" model - with the "DVD" logomark on face of disk player.

chances are that it will be 4-2, as the "2" stands for the color screen... I thought that the last version for the MK4 was 10.0, and therefore the disk v32.2 updated to the 4-2/00... when i got my car, i had 4-2/46, so, i guess there even older versions than the 9.3...

if you have a custom version, the number can be anything, as the nav computer takes the disk for update if the installed and new versions are different in the number, thus it is possible to downgrade too...

i don't think so - the nav computer, just like the radio, can be in US mode or in the UK mode... not sure about the other modes... when I got rid of the ACCEPT screen, it put the Nav into the UK mode, where the distances were in yards, not feet, the ACCEPT screen is not bogging me anymore and the red EMERGENCY is gone form main menu...

one way to change country (not my favorite way), you get into the UK mode by going one firmware version down and then one version back up... Just gotta make sure, that if you are going down on the version, not to go too far, there was a threshold which required a hardware key to go back up... I could be totally off with this one, but I remember, that some version, like 21, or something, required a key to go to 23 or higher...

Or, you can try to use the NavCoder, to change the country code... much easier...

the perspective mode was available i think from the version 31 on...

aferestik, check to see if your scale is in yards, and the EMERGENCY is available in the main menu... the voice guidance still can be in feet...

After lots of research online and talking to BMW in UK, I had better response than US. and directions to a cheaper maps and free upgrade to V32 OS.
for those that may need :
2013 BMW North American Map DVD HIGH
I still researching ,many Modded versions that actually originated from V32. what 's the main differences to find the best one. If anyone has other version post the differences and if a copy can be made available to try it.

PART NUMBER FOR OS FIRMWARE V.32 : 01 59 0 141 891

I still have an accept screen, but it goes away after about 30 seconds. My nav reads in feet.
