2003 Diesel, ODB2 or not?

Hi!

I see there is many solutions and problems with reading BMW codes and which adapter and software really work. So I trying to find out if my X5 really is ODB2 compliant. I have the obd adapter with the correct pins.

The vin plate have a "2" inside a box (see picture) is this a reference to obd2 or something else?

My 2002 3.0d is. So yours has to be also ... at least :-)

what I have is: Basic System fr BMW und MINI | AUTOtronic.ch for reading all codes and resetting them.

And this one: BMW IBUS I-BUS to USB Interface / Adapter Cable | eBay

with the NavCoder software.

Good Luck

For Navcoder you need to dive somehow a little bit deeper into the cars wires. Not really for the software but to connect the interface which is really cheap.

Navcoder details are here: NavCoder Website

Good luck

OBD II compliance was adopted at different times depending on what country you live. In the USA, OBD II compliance has been a federal mandate since 1996:
