You have a male and female for pin connector and they are designations of pin slot 1 2 3 4... So am I missing it where you mention which pin number you splice the two wires to go to the clock spring? Or do I need to look up the pinout of the 4 pin connector to see each 2 wires see for shift up and down? and then also on my car I have a 4.8 so I have the heated steering wheel I already have a clock spring that has the two pins present however those two pins are currently used for the heated steering wheel circuit... So that means I need to depin the heated steering wheel connector and the steering column that supplies the signal to the clock spring right? For my main thing honestly it's just trying to figure out in this cool four-pin connector custom harness you made what's the pin out of it? He showed connectors with four pins going in and out but you didn't say which of the two pins to splice the two shift +- wires into. Apologies if I missed it just trying to make sure I get all this right before I start on it tomorrow. |

With my 4.4 it was like this: Blue-white= up shift blue-yellow= down shift. Not sure if it is the same for your 4.8is. Mine has M4 paddle shifters but I'm sure it works the same way as the SMG wheel. |

This has always been something that I have wanted to do but the cost of a good specimen E46 steering wheel just keeps holding me back... I must admit, out here in Ohio I do like my heated wheel... Would love to have it all, but isn’t that the crux of life...
One of these days I’ll get some hair brain idea and whoop up something! Been considering 3D printing my paddle mounts and using a small “button switch” with some self cut aluminum paddles but in light of other projects that’s been slow going. Sent from my iPhone using Xoutpost.com |

That’s where I’m leaning, find a decent one on eBay, snag it, refurbish as needed and go to work... as soon as I am reemployed from my company collapsing from Covid... I’ll get there! Sent from my iPhone using Xoutpost.com |

I think I used a kit from Mr. Leather to refurbish it.

Shameless self plug... I make harnesses at the cost of my time.
