Can't help you as I've never searched for aftermarket flares. I'm sure fleabay has some.

Question so at this point since i have a 2006 4.8IS... i have rear IS flares but no real flares up front right?

so people look into purchasing the "lemans" edition flares for the front only and that looks more matching to the rear flares?

these parts i would find and purchase?

This is the section you should be looking at:

4.6/4.8 – Front Flares ONLY (NO Running Boards).

Part Number ------ Description ------------------------- QTY

51 71 7 002 953 -- BLIND RIVET ------------------------- 14
51 71 7 049 867 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, FRONT LEFT ------- 1
51 71 7 049 868 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, FRONT RIGHT ------ 1

when i look at the rear of a X5 with Lemans Flares, it looks like the rear flares are also wider? or maybe have a different piece toward the bottom bumper area that almost look like a mudflap?

there are so many different pieces to these cars its insane i cant keep up with them.

LeMans rear flares are the same on every 4.8is. Not quite sure what you are seeing. But yes, you can also add mudflats.

ok my apologies so then sounds like the 4.6/4.8is cars already have the same flares but just missing the fronts and thats what that kit adds to the front.

only thing is now i dont have running boards but plan on adding them later. i want to get the flares now since my dealer can get them so i guess ill just gave to hold off on installing them until i get my running boards.. if i try to install them now with out running boards it looks like i'll have to cut some tabs off that are requires for the running boards later on.

Bmw mounts flares like below.
They mount by making holes in your arches and a tab ( that he breaks off) goes through with a metal teeth thing holding from inside. Your wheel arches are permenantly fucked. You have to make about 10 holes per rear arch. 1/4” by 1”. If you go to sell arches, you can’t. You will be left with 50 holes visible from the sides, fenders and rear bumper. This method also takes about 10 hours. You have to remove your wheel arches, that’s like 100 blind rivets, remove rear bumper, buy all those clips and rivets. Molest every arch and rear bumper. I did mine this way. And it was epic.

Mrbmwx5 is also an OG mod king. I suggest you even search his name and see the stuff he pulled off for the X.
Thanks slick.

Good luck cutting small slots for the add on flares.

Nope. You can mount them now like mrbmwx5 does. Break off those tabs on the LeMans flares and use a little screw from bottom. Then when you get RB, move lemans flares over using same screws.

thank you!

i just placed an order at my local dealer for those front flares

came out to $628 with tax.

im curious.. why did 4.6 and 4.8is only come with rear flares and none on the front? but when you look up the part#s

51 71 7 049 867 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, FRONT LEFT ------- 1
51 71 7 049 868 -- FLARED WHEEL ARCH, FRONT RIGHT ------ 1

they come up on ECS website as 4.6/4.8is flares as if tey were supposed to have come on those cars?

were they euro only flares that didnt come on the USA models?

I thought front flares were nla? Which dealer can get them?

Also, while I appreciate the ingenuity of trimming the tabs off the flares to save cutting the slits in the OE arches and putting in rivets, I would think it would seriously devalue the front arches having their tabs trimmed. At least for me it would. I would want to install them properly.

understood so if i wanted to just go ahead and install them right now as is the way they are supposed to be installed which is removing the old wheel arch and side skirt and installing the new flared arch and reinstall the old skirt..

later on when i get running boards, i WILL have to cut the tabs on the flares since the wheel arches the flares are mounted on are meant for NON running board setup...

and if that the case then im better off just going ahead and cutting the tabs off right now since i will eventually have to do it anyways with the running board kit install since it comes with different wheel arches to mate with the actual running boards and then mount the modded front flares with screws to the running board wheel arches.

does that sound correct?

my flares came in today at local dealer and i picked them up so im looking forward to getting home to install them.
