What is a realistic mpg for the 4.8? My boss had one and he dissed it last year. He said it would go through about 18-20 l/100km city driving. That is about 14-16 mpg.
Are these numbers correct?

If you keep your foot out of it, yes. But if you really put your foot down in the city, it is not unheard of to see less than that. I saw less than 15 on the highway when I sustained speeds like this for a few hours...

they took the lead out of gas, and forgot to take it out of a foot

I have a Dinan 4.8is and get about 16MPG mixed driving. I don't think I baby the throttle but I'm not flooring it at every light either.

The exhaust is kind of loud and I don't want every pimple faced ricer to think I'm trying to "rev up" on them and race. :-)

Gary92, any chance you could look the car over for me? I made an offer on it. I can PM you. Thanks for any help.

If y'all are monitoring gas mileage by what the car says, subtract one to one and a half to get your real mileage.
