Junkycosmos, I had the exact sale issues. I thought the rubber seal around the window perimeter was too old, but after putting two small electric strips on the ledge, where the square guide rides over, it stopped all glass rattling and no more sounds

Hey clockwork any chance you can explain where to put this tape, I’m pretty sure I have the exact problem you had and I’d love to finally solve it. Your YouTube video isn’t around anymore. Hopefully you see this!

Oddly enough I am seeing it. I've been scares from this site lately, so jumping on here now is just funny timing.
I don't have a video anymore and in fact I need to do this again.
When you remove the rubber accordion boots to work on this, go ahead and then press the sunroof button to VENT position and watch the movement of the front glass panel on the plastic rails. This now puts the glass higher up the rail and on a place where there is no wiggle anymore. SO you have to cut thin strips of electric tape and run it over the place of the rails where the glass panel NORMALLY sits in closed position. You are removing the slack/gap that is usually there. It can be fiddly to work on but be patient and don't cut yourself. The tape can only be 2 layers thick at most OE else you trigger the pressure sensor on the glass and the sheets of glass never close.

Since I need to re-do this to my X5, perhaps I will make a video in the next week...

Here's a video I made on the Pano Sunroof Rattle issue a few years ago. The factory repair kit is just strips of velcro, which you can buy almost anywhere (Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, and so on).

Nice video (as are all your other videos) Sadly my larger front Pano glass sheet is what rattles and a previous member shows in his video to put electric tape strips on the rail system that the glass sheet rides on.
I can't find that video, and need to do this repair again myself, so I will try to take a video of it soon. Just kinda hard with work and Xmas coming up.

Thanks bud, appreciate that. Good to know, I don't think I put tape on the rail system itself.

My 04 4.4i rattled really badly until I did this "felt strip" repair, which made a big improvement but not 100%. Thankfully our current 05 3.0i has not had any rattle issues, though the pano roof is jammed closed...

The Bimmer Zeit vids have been great for e53 owners, so please keep sharing.
I didn't realize it was you. So pleasure to "meet" you.
