ok so the pre facelift ones have to be retrofitted? there a DIY on how to do it, or am I gonna have to wing it? I already got the HIDs installed and love how they look so far, now just want to get the projectors for on road use. Thanks again guys for all the help!

This is the Genuine Housing:

BMW E53 X5 M54 3.0L Lighting Fog Lights - 63178409025 - Fog Lamp - Left - ES#173985

TYC housings are only $10 less so I'd stick with genuine.

They bolt in the same spots as the reflector fogs, but they housings take an H3 bulb. So if you do HID in them, you need to be sure to get H3C HID kit, but for the error cancellers they need to be an H11 plug, as that is the stock plug for the car on 03-06.

If you are running halogen bulbs but want the 00-02 fog housings, you need to do H11 to BMW connector pigtails, as the 00-02 projector fogs take a connection to the housing that is a BMW connector and not a standard light connection for power.

I have the BMW pigtails if you need them as I have no need since I put HID in the housings. They would just need H11 connectors soldered on to plug into your stock fog harness, or you could hack off the stock H11 connector and solder on the BMW pigtails, personally I prefer to not modify stock wiring.

I can throw them in an envelope if you need just let me know, but like I said, if you'll be running HID in them, you won't need them at all.

Just make sure you get canbus modules that are H11 plugged, one side plugs into the ballast, and one side plugs into the H11 plugs for your X, they will keep errors off with the HID kit.

Hope that helps.

Did you see how bright my LED fog lights were? They're insanely bright 3100 lumens the brightest (OSRAM) HID lamps on the market are between 3000-3400 lumens depending on the kelvin temperature. Those bulbs run between 100-200 a pair. lol

Here's a side view picture of my fog lights NO the low beams ARE NOT on in this picture just my angel eyes and Fog lights.

Here's the link to them in case you're interested in them however if you're going to HID I would have to agree with these guys projectors with halos are the way to go it would look great and match the scheme. If you're willing to spend the extra money for the projectors that's the route I would go if I had my heart on HID fog lights.

If not these things are quality built for sure:

Jesus acidphase, what town are you from? Those blue angel eyes must either be every PO's favorite ticket to write, or you're a cop yourself.

No but I do work for the state sort of (quasi state employee), and it helps to have a clean record and know a few police officers. lol

Edit:

They're not that blue only 12K LOL

However I get more worried about how bright my fog lights and HID's are lol
(don't mind my wife freezing off to the side) :P

You can always swap a set of sport bike high beam bulbs in the reflector housings.

...and I suppose you didn't notice how INSANELY WRONG the output of those fogs are. Please TRY refrain from spewing ridiculous misinformation. Those "insanely bright" led bulbs that supposedly rival a 66240 (presumably CBI...which, btw your quoted prices are miles off.. as they can be had for under $200/pair) are nothing more than a novelty bulb since, as far as a fog light output is concerned, they're completely and utterly useless....

I could go on....but lets just say you're choice of angel eye color speaks volumes to the rest of us who take lighting seriously.

The OP was looking for a USEABLE light upgrade to his fogs, not a novelty upgrade used for searching the night sky.

Dude first I meant a pair so that was just a mistake, secondly the OSRAM bulbs are the brightest ones on the market and being these are 3100 Lumens because the last I checked that's a measurement of light that would definitely put them in the same league.

As far as the Kelvin temperature for using it with fog that is indeed arguable however if you actually read what beamertruck said rather coming at me like some high school child you would have known he WANTED THEM BRIGHT.

I put it in bold for you incase somehow you missed it.. So what was that comment now you said?

"The OP was looking for a USEABLE light upgrade to his fogs, not a novelty upgrade used for searching the night sky."

Last who the hell are you to judge me and my knowledge based on the color of the angel eyes I picked? You've been a follower your whole life eh? "I have to do this to make sure I fit in the crowd"
I picked the color because well I like blue and being it's my vehicle I can put whatever I want and can care less what everyone else does and for what reasons. You wish you knew what I forgot about electronics, lighting, optics, and physics.
I chose the lights because I too have to go in really dark outlining locations where the general public doesn't have to go for my job, I was well aware of the normal kelvin spectrum for fog lights and I really don't care because I wanted the output.

Don't automatically assume you're a palm reader and know everything about me by the color/light choices I make. Stop being condescending, self righteous, and most of all judgemental. You're the only a**hole I've encountered in this community so far how did you slip by?
