How to Manually Raise One Axle Air Suspension

While awaiting an EHC module (air suspension module). I tried to raise the rear of my sagging 2002 X5 4.4i by running the air compressor located under the spare tire. I did this by bypassing the air pump relay.

The pump ran fine....but the car didnt raise up. A guy on youtube did the exact same thing with the same dismal results.

After flubbing around with my GTI/DIS software, I discovered that there are two electric solenoids attached to the air compressor pump. I bypassed those wires feeding the solenoids with 12v power....while running the pump....voila! The car rose steadily and pretty quickly. I only had to run the pump one minute per solenoid to get it pretty high.

Ahhh...take your time delivering that module!

Not sure what model/year you have, but for my 2004, I found a zero ride height option in the control module functions. If all else works, you set the height manually, reset the zero point and on next start up, the car goes to that level. I only have the rear air suspension.

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
zero point function is all I use for setting ride height as I like to individually set the axles or corners as I like and set it.

As opposed to running the asinine calibration routine and plugging in numbers etc

I would have...but my software could not communicate to EHC module...which was apparently dead.

Hi Spanker, I have an '04 with the same issue. Where are those wires on the compressor that I need to connect to?
