Need Help 05' x5 misfire or hesitation

I have a misfire or hesitation when i try to hold a steady speed but it goes away when I accelerate or decelerate. It doesn't throw a code and seems to be getting worse. It has come and gone but seems to be getting more continuous. Any ideas? Thanks for the help. It has the 4.8is with 115k miles

Lots of things could cause that.

No misfire codes at all?

Service history of plugs/coil packs?

Has the fuel filter been replaced at all since new?
If not that might be the issue. I replaced mine at 100K and cut it in half to see the condition of the filter and it was clogged up and in sad shape.

g300d:No misfire codes at all. Just recently purchased and don't know much history.
mgbmwx5: That was my first inclination and wanted to post to see what others had to say. I am going to order a filter and change here in the next few days to see if it works. Any brands I should stay away from?

use bmw oe fuel filter,it is a pain in the ass to change the filter, you have to use a lift.
after that check the ccv easy fix[both sides] and then the throttle body too also easy to clean .

You can request the service history through your local BMW dealer, all they need is the VIN. As to the fuel filter I'd either use BMW OEM, MAHLE or MANN.

Here's a DIY fuel filter replacement thread: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...placement.html

With just that to go with you are basically going to have to throw parts at it to find the problem.

Maybe pull the plugs to see if there will be any clues there?

Check your valve cover gasket. I replaced mine and with no air leaks my 2002 X5 3.0i runs like it should.
